It started 2026-27 with nearly 12,000 students (WSB-TV, July 2026). Hayes Farm Elementary and Hoschton High open in August 2027, and Sell's Mill Middle opens in August 2028. Jefferson City Schools reports a 98.19% four-year graduation rate. Commerce City Schools enrolled 1,785 students in 2022-23 (NCES). Braselton addresses can also fall in other counties' districts, so always verify before buying.

SK Battery America broke ground in Commerce in 2019, with a $1.67 billion investment and more than 2,000 jobs. The City of Commerce says the Southeast Toyota plant there has the largest rail spur in Georgia. The county was created in 1796 and named for James Jackson. In Jefferson, the Crawford W. Long Museum honors the doctor who first used ether for surgical anesthesia in 1842.
Population rose from 75,945 to 99,265 between 2020 and 2025. Only Long and Dawson counties grew faster in Georgia (Census, July 2025).
